Who is Recognia? |
| |
Recognia is an industry leader in automated chart pattern
recognition. Our proprietary pattern recognition technology
is capable of recognizing patterns in the price charts of
any publicly traded financial instrument including stocks,
bonds, funds, commodities, currencies and indexes. These chart
patterns are known to indicate trading opportunities See our
Reference Materials
to learn more about chart pattern recognition. The depth and
accuracy of information we provide its content, quality
and quantity is only available from Recognia. Recognia
generates content in-house and licenses it to financial portals,
online brokerages and other financial institutions. Click

What
is the significance of these patterns? |
| |
Market analysts have sought
after these pattern formations for dozens and in some cases
hundreds of years. In general, they reflect group behavior in
the stock markets and provide insight on the direction the price
is expected to take. Learn more about chart patterns from our
Reference Materials.
|
| 3. |
Can you provide descriptions
of these patterns? |
| |
Please see our Pattern Descriptions
for more information on patterns and their predictive value.

Does this mean that Recognia
can accurately predict the stock market? |
| |
The information provided by
the identification of these patterns often gives strong indication
as to the direction the price of a security will move over the
short term. Recognia provides automated identification of price
movements and patterns. These can be used by investors to make
better investment decisions. Recognia does not offer investment
advice.

Why would my account holders
or visitors be interested in patterns? |
| |
Recognia provides an additional information source that can
be exploited in two very different tactics.
The first is to verify the research that an investor has
already done on a security. Presence of a particular pattern
in a security would confirm the investor's opinion that the
price is expected to move in a particular direction.
The second approach is to look at a security that an investor
may not have considered if the pattern was not otherwise present.
In this mode, the pattern precedes the research.

| 6. |
What do my account holders or
visitors need to learn to use this tool? |
| |
The patterns are very simple
to understand. Recognia provides succinct educational material
on patterns that will educate the investor on how to use these.
For more information on these patterns and what to expect when
they appear, please see our Pattern Descriptions
page.

| 7. |
How often do you scan
the markets? |
| |
Every security from each exchange
is reviewed after the close of each trading day. All recognition
is performed at that time and all of the found patterns are
placed in a database for retrieval.
|
| 8. |
When is the pattern information
available? |
| |
The pattern recognition process
is completed around midnight to ensure that the information
is available before the open of the next day's trading.
|
| 9. |
How do I get the patterns onto
my web site or application? |
| |
There are two ways to make Recognia chart pattern information
available from your web site or application.
Recognia API
The chart pattern data can be accessed using the Recognia
API. This API allows you to create queries that retrieve
patterns based on the characteristics you require. The API
returns data in XML
format by default, however XML can be transformed into other
desired formats that work with your web site or application.
By retrieving the Recognia chart pattern data in this manner,
you can integrate the information into your existing web pages
or application as you see fit.
Recognia Hosted
Website
Recognia provides a Hosted Website service which facilitates
the deployment of Recognia chart patterns to your web site
or application. Recognia hosts pre-built web pages that can
be branded for your company and linked to or embedded in your
web site or application. The concept is to have Recognia host
and maintain the web page tools while it appears to the account
holder or visitor that the pages are part of your web site
or application. These web pages include tools to enable the
account holder or visitor to search through the Recognia chart
patterns, view the patterns marked-up on price charts, and
set alert criteria in order to be notified when new patterns
are found. See the Interactive
Demo for a tour.

In what formats can I get the
pattern data? |
| |
The Recognia
API returns data in XML
(Extensible Markup Language). The XML may be transformed into
other desired formats such as HTML or CSV by means of an XSLT
(Extensible Stylesheet Language Transform). The use of XML and
XSLT provides flexibility for Recognia customers
and allows for multiple uses of the information.

| 11. |
What are the different ways
I can query the database to find patterns? |
| |
Some of the filtering characteristics that can be used to
query the pattern database include security symbol, exchange,
industry sector, pattern category, pattern type, date range,
price, and volume. Go to Pattern
Characteristics for a complete description.
|
| 12. |
What are the main ingredients
that make the Recognia offering unique in the market? |
| |
Three principles are the bedrock
of Recognia success: scientific credibility (both mathematical
and financial), knowledge of customer requirements, and advanced
computer processes that enable complex data modeling to be done
on a vast scale. We find more patterns, faster than any other
process and we provide the flexibility to allow you to deploy
these patterns to your customers in the manner that creates
the most value for you and your customers.
|
| 13. |
How exactly do you identify
the patterns? What is the actual technology involved? |
| |
We use a combination of algorithmic
and neural network technologies to identify and characterize
the patterns.

What is the difference between
Candlestick Patterns and Bar Chart Patterns? |
| |
In general, patterns located in Candlestick charts describe
a single day's activity or activity over a few days. Patterns
located in Bar charts are frequently formed over a series
of days, weeks, months or years. It is the series of price
bars over time that depict price swings and form the pattern.
This is sometimes referred to as a Classic pattern. You can
find out more about patterns in our Pattern Descriptions
section.
